Artist Statement about Sweaty Audrey II:
The latest “Total-Eclipse-Of-The-Sun” completely inspired this Sweaty. Audrey II was my favorite movie monster as a child, and now my son’s favorite! We name every houseplant after Audrey II.
Eva Devon Soni aka Sweaty Taxidermy is an Artist, Mother, & Zoo Keeper living in Grass Valley California.
“Besides crafting, animals have always been my life. I was surrounded by them as a child, majored in Zoology in college, and chose Zoo Keeping as a profession. My appreciation for the art of taxidermy really grew during college. I spent hours studying and preparing specimens.
Once college ended, I continued to study taxidermy how-to’s. I wanted to have fun with my taxidermy! I really enjoyed anthropomorphizing my wee mounts and wanted to expand to other larger animals, but living in a tiny San Francisco apartment limited my options.
One day while dreaming up the weirdest Christmas present I could make for my brother, I realized I could create my own faux animals. I found that vintage sweaters were the perfect material to pull off that playfulness I desired all along!”
