Jessica Dalva grew up in northern California and moved to Los Angeles to study illustration at Otis College of Art and Design. She spends her time sculpting, painting, sewing, building puppets and props, illustrating, and generally making things. She finds great satisfaction in discovering new materials and, perhaps due to curiosity, perhaps restlessness, she is constantly playing with fresh modes of creative problem solving by exploring unfamiliar techniques and tools. She is fascinated by the seemingly infinite possibilities that are presented in the human form, and is always striving towards a better understanding of the figure, as well as the anatomies of other creatures. The complexities of nature and the wide array of human struggle and experience are constant inspirations and explorations in her work.
