Artist Biography and Statement:
I am an Observer, ‘Imaginator’, and Maker. I am intrigued by this world that we so freely inhabit and call our own. Yet just as intrigued as I am by our multifaceted surroundings, I am drawn to the intrinsic landscape of the mind; a place that is always new, yet comfortingly familiar. A place that is soaked in the thoughts and desires of our innermost being, the mind is the only place we can truly call our own, Our only true place of rest, our only true home.
Like moths we are drawn to the concept of home. It is a universal aspect of humanity this desperate need to be known, to be familiar, and to gather in community. The Structures and people that come together to form this atmosphere come in all shapes and sizes. Regardless of our negative or positive connotation to our past or current home-life it is something that we all desire.

Within our culture today we lack the traditional home and grounding of our origins and our nationality. Much of this is due to the accessibility of transportation in the twenty-first century. We have become a culture or people group that is dislocated, displaced, and distinctly lacking a sense of belonging. We live in community melting pots far from familial ties and places of birth. We are a people who dwell within the paradoxical position of recognized displacement.

We move from location to location further removing ourselves from any cultural or national ties we may have begun our lives with. Creating an abyss within us that longs to attach itself to something familiar. But how in our culture of temporary dwellings, city after city of apartments and hotels, does one cling to the familiar in order that the capacity of life may be fully realized?

Today home is not defined by physical walls but constructed within the depths of our minds. The twenty-first century home is a mental construction. Personalized to perfection as the one place that affords complete knowledge and acceptance of oneself. The place where our inherent need to be known and validated is fulfilled. This mental construction provides security, comfort, and identity. We forge a new kind of identity and culture that is individualistic that combines the new and the old, a symbiotic relationship that waters our soul.
