Artist statement about this piece:
Fire Station No. 4
Est. 1937. 404 8th Avenue in Downtown San Diego, CA.
Originally built by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration (in 1937), it stands as the oldest operating fire station in San Diego. The building is 4,250 square feet and is made out of concrete and discarded trolley tracks. In 1994, the station was designated a historical site for its architecture and community significance.
